Perry Sexton, MD

Dr. Sexton grew up in Redlands, California, where his early interests in athletics and music helped shape his goal-oriented approach to life. This philosophy is evident in his medical practice, where he encourages patients to be proud of who they are while striving for continual self-improvement. Dr. Sexton earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Sonoma State University and went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Loma Linda University.

 

He completed his training in emergency medicine at Yale and family practice at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sexton is licensed in California and holds dual Board certifications from the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

 

Dr. Sexton values time spent with his patients, using a whiteboard to break down complex information into easy-to-understand terms. His mission is to offer a new style of healthcare for those who feel intimidated or confused by the current medical system. He has created an atmosphere that is as relaxing as a day spa. He offers hope to those overburdened with medications and overwhelmed by confusing diagnoses, providing understandable explanations, instruction on improving medical conditions, and compassionate support on the path to healing. Dr. Sexton embraces principles of evidence and optimism, medication, and motivation through his experiences.

 

Dr. Sexton's enthusiasm and reputation for encouraging patient education are well-recognized by his colleagues and patients. He frequently appears on NBC morning news, where he shares his insights on improving community health through lifestyle education. Notably, his innovative Three-Step Diet Plan was adopted by the city of Philadelphia in 2006 as part of their efforts to address obesity.

 

In his personal life, Dr. Sexton loves the ocean and enjoys scuba diving, having traveled around the world in search of amazing underwater creatures. His wife, Rosemary, family, and friends continue to be his support and top priorities. 

 

Over the years, he has become a cat person, and while you may see some photos of the big cats he has seen in his travels on safari, he may just sit down and share a story about his tiny cats, Nutmeg and Soufflé. He enjoys expressing his creativity in writing and comedy, performing periodically around San Diego County. Make sure to ask when his next performance might be!
